The Federation of Russian Car Owners (FAR) will protest in downtown Moscow on Thursday against rising gasoline prices, FAR head Sergei Kanayev said.
“We will hold a protest against gasoline price hikes by riding on streets adjacent to the Kremlin and on embankments from 6 p.m. on June 16,” Kanayev said.
FAR said that event participants did not intend to block traffic around the Kremlin.
A police source told RIA Novosti that traffic police officers will not allow any unauthorized protests by motorists.
The Russian statistics service has said gasoline prices in the country grew 0.7 percent from May 31 to June 6.
