Fire fighters trying to put out Bishkek fireworks warehouse fire

BISHKEK, August 4 (Itar-Tass) — Four fire fighting brigades have been engaged in the capital of Kyrgyzstan in extinguishing a blaze at a warehouse with pyrotechnics. Explosions of firecrackers can still be occasionally heard there. The warehouse, which has already half burnt, is a long shed, approximately 100 metres in length and 50 meters in width.

An explosion of fireworks in the warehouse located near Central Asia’s largest consumer goods market Dordoi occurred several hours ago. Several ambulance cars arrived at the site of the incident. “However, no explosion victims have so far turned to us,” medics said. However, eyewitnesses claim that one of the warehouse workers was injured in the explosion and has already been taken to hospital.

“At present, the causes of the fire are being established, as well information about the victims specified,” the Emergencies Ministry of Kyrgyzstan said.
