With three years left until Russia’s Formula 1 debut, RT brings you the hottest moments from F1 exhibition events held in Sochi and Moscow.
Formula 1 has never been held in Russia but that’s about to change come the year 2014.
Russia’s Olympic capital of Sochi has inked a deal with race organizers to stage the event up to the year 2020.
Meanwhile, exhibition events have been held in Sochi and around Moscow’s Red Square.
Promoting the sport were teams Ferrari, Lotus Renault and McLaren Mercedes, along with star pilots Jenson Button, Giancarlo Fisichella and Russia’s first-ever F1 driver, Vitaly Petrov.
“A race here would be amazing in itself and I think we’re really looking forward to racing here. As I said it’s a real taster for the fans here and for the people of Moscow to really experience what we can do with the race car, and the sounds and the smells. I think they’ll get addicted so we’ll be back here I’m sure,” Jenson Button said.
