France has had no information about any civilian deaths as a result of the western coalition’s strikes on Libya at the weekend, claimed an official spokesman for the French Government, Francois Baroin, in an interview with the Canal Plus television company.
But Libya’s government news media reported that the coalition planes struck at civilian facilities in Tripoli, Benghazi and Zuwara, and also at petroleum storage reservoirs in the area of Misurata.
60 people are said to have died in the attacks. Last night the western coalition bombed Tripoli and some other Libya cities for several hours.
Russia, China and India have called for putting paid to indiscriminate military strikes on Libya, resulting in civilian deaths.
