Gaddafi’s son Hannibal planned terrorist attacks in Europe

One of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi’s sons, Hannibal, planned a series of terrorist attacks in Europe, including at the Geneva International Airport, and assigned an Algerian national to do this, Echorouk Online reported on Wednesday.

The possible Algerian perpetrator of the attacks, known as Iskander, used to work at a private gym in the Libyan capital of Tripoli where Hannibal used to work out.

During the investigation, Iskander confessed that Hannibal “empowered him with a secret mission in Switzerland and other European states.” He also promised the Algerian that after the mission he would make al Qaeda responsible for the attacks.

Before the planned attacks in Geneva, Iskander secretly visited his relatives in Algeria and, upon returning to Libya, he received military documents under the name of Mourad Senane.

Iskander, however, was arrested in Algeria on charges of spying for French secret services and is facing a court trial that is due to begin on June 13.

Relations between Libya and Switzerland soured after Swiss police arrested Hannibal Gaddafi and his wife in July of 2008 for beating up a maid at a Swiss hotel.
