Gazprom may fail to supply gas via Sakhalin Island pipeline in Aug

MOSCOW, Aug 2 (PRIME) — Russian gas giant Gazprom may be unable to begin supplying natural gas to customers through a pipeline linking Sakhalin Island with the cities of Khabarovsk and Vladivostok in August, the company said in a statement Tuesday.

Gazprom said that Russias Stroygazmontazh, which was chosen as a general contractor for the construction of the Sakhalin segment of the pipeline, was behind in the building process and could complete the project behind schedule.

Gazprom said it had instructed its contractors and divisions to speed up the pipelines construction and installation projects in order to meet the scheduled deadlines.
