Google is planning to replace the Nexus line of devices with Play Edition products, according to Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin.

According to Cnet, Google will discontinue the sub-brand in 2015 after launching two or three more Nexus-branded products this year in a bid to rebrand the Play Edition.

According to the report, the Nexus line has been generally far less expensive than the Google Play Editions, for example 400 dollars for the 32GB Nexus 5 versus the higher-end Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition, for 650 dollars.

Although Google has spent five years developing the Nexus line of brand and it could take a while for the customers to appreciate it, there are several Google Play devices from a number of top handset makers and it makes no sense for have redundant brand in the market. (ANI)
