Lewis Hamilton was the first to see the checkered flag at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, while Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel retired on the first lap.
Vettel’s Red Bull picked up a right rear puncture and spun off at Turn Two. The German driver, who had tied Nigel Mansell’s record of 14 poles in season on Saturday, made it back to the pits, but was forced to retire for the first time this season.
2008 champion Hamilton took over the lead from Vettel and secured his place well before the end of the race, finishing ahead of Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso for his third win of the season.
Hamilton’s teammate Jenson Button came in third, followed by Red Bull driver Mark Webber at the Yas Marina Circuit.
Russia’s Lotus Renault driver, Vitaly Petrov, finished off the points again in a disappointing 13th place.
