Happy Thanksgiving from Windows to Russia!

Sveta and I are going to have a meal tonight to celebrate. Yes even in Russia I still like to fix a small meal. I found a huge sweet potato at a large store. Sweet potatoes are very very rare in Russia. So when I found this one last week, I bought it. (No one knows what a sweet potato is here!) I am lucky to see two sweet potatoes a year in Russia. Usually they are brought in by accident…

Sveta had bought a package of turkey pieces and I am going today to pick up some more odds and ends. We are even going to get a bottle of diet Pepsi to toast Thanksgiving with. (That is what Sveta and I use instead of alcohol.)

While I have my own ideas about Thanksgiving and the grey hidden untold world behind it. I do know that I have always loved the food that is present at Thanksgiving day. It was also one of the days that I did get off from work, well most of the time. The last 10 years of my work career it became too important to have the restaurant open because so many people did not want to cook a Turkey dinner. So I lost that day for a day off. I remember the largest day of sales ever on a Thanksgiving day. It was unbelievable, for 8 hours I had people lined out the door and down the sidewalk for over a hundred yards. The whole family from mom, dad and kids, plus grandparents were there and I even had to call the sheriff to have someone direct car traffic. The bottom line of my business loved it but I came to realized that Thanksgiving was not what it use to be or is suppose to be…

So we really do wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving and we hope more than anything that you all are safe and sound. Just remember that you have a lot to be Thankful for and you need to appreciate what you have not what you think you should have…
