Hiddink tempted by Anzhi project

Former Russia coach Guus Hiddink has told RT he has no plans to retire from football and has not ruled out taking the reigns at big-spending Anzhi.

The Dutchman is currently taking time out from the game after failing to lead Turkey into next year’s European Championships.

But he has described the Russian Premier League club, which has signed Samuel Eto’o and Roberto Carlos, as a prestigious project.

“I heard of Anzhi from, let’s say, the Russian inside. This is a project,” the Dutch specialist said. “I like it because there must be good football in the team, but also it’s not just football what I heard, it’s more than football. It’s nice for the region, which has lived in poverty. If through football people can do other things as well, then it’s a very beautiful project.”

Hiddink also dismissed rumors about his current contacts with Chelsea, though admitting that he has kept good relations with the club’s owner Roman Abramovich.
