Injured Russian boy flown to Moscow for further treatment

A team of Russian doctors has flown a nine-year-old boy who got grave injuries at an aqua park in Turkey back to Moscow for further treatment, the head of Russia’s center for the protection of citizens’ rights abroad said on Sunday.

Kirill Gudkov has been unconscious for six days after he was injured at a water slide. Local doctors describe his state as critical. It is diagnosed as cerebral edema.

“Kirill was taken to Moscow on the night of July 16-17,” Dmitry Davydenko said.

The boy needs neurosurgery to improve his health condition and the clinic in Alanya in Turkey where he stayed does not specialize in the treatment of neurological patients, Davydenko said.
