Israel fears post-Mubarak Egypt may withdraw from the 1979 peace deal, and the unfolding Middle East revolution may reach Syria and Iran. Faced with this, it believes it would urgently need some 20 billion dollars in defence assistance from the United States. Speaking about this Tuesday, Defence Minister Ehud Barak described the Arab revolt as an upheaval of historic proportions.
