Japan observes minute’s silence for quake, tsunami victims

The Japanese people and foreign rescuers have observed a minute’s silence for the victims of the disastrous quake and tsunami that occurred a week ago.

The commemorative event was held at 14:46 local time (or 08:46 Moscow time), when Japan was first hit by a 9.0 Magnitude earthquake seven days ago.

According to the latest official reports, more than 6,500 people have died, while over 10,000 others have been listed as missing.

Almost 400,000 Japanese have been compelled to leave their homes-turned-rubble.
