Japanese authorities to stop water dumping operation on № 3 Fukushima reactor

Japanese authorities have decided not to continue on Friday the water dumping operation on № 3 reactor housing of “Fukushima-1” NPP with use of emergency vehicles equipped with powerful hoses. This could jeopardize the health of the staff, considering the high levels of radiation near the target area, reports NHK TV channel.

The housing of the third reactor had earlier been damaged due to Friday’s powerful earthquake and tsunami.

Currently, boiling steam or white smoke is seen rising from Fukushima’s second reactor – the exact reasons for this are not reported.

A 9.0 magnitude earthquake occurred off the northeast coast of Japan on March 11. The tremors caused a tsunami with waves of over ten meters. According to recent reports, over 15 thousand people died or went missing in the disaster.
