DUSHANBE, September 3 (Itar-Tass) — Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said his meeting with Turkmen President Gurbanduly Berdymukhamedov focused on the Turkmen leader’s upcoming visit to Moscow, as well as economic and humanitarian cooperation.
“We agreed with you by phone that you’d visit Russia. Now we have a chance to discuss all details of your visit to make it intense and fruitful in order to meet good partnership and friendship that unite Russia and Turkmenistan,” Medvedev said.
The date of the visit has not been specified for the press.
Berdymukhamedov described Russia as Turkmenistan’s strategic partner and gave a high assessment to the dynamical development of trade and economic relations between the two countries. In his words, since the beginning of the year trade turnover between the two states has exceeded two billion U.S. dollars. “We have many orders to buy Russian vehicles – tractors and KAMAZ trucks,” the Turkmen president said. He expressed satisfaction with the development of relations with Russian regions. “Our cooperation is on the rise,” he said.
In 2012 Turkmenistan will preside in the CIS.
