Medvedev greets Obama on 50th birthday

MOSCOW, August 4 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia’s President Dmitry Medvedev greeted on Friday his American counterpart Barack Obama on his 50th birthday. The text of the telegram is displayed on the Kremlin’s site.

“Dear Barack, you have reached this milestone in your life with a great store of professional and personal achievements,” the greeting reads. “Despite the serious global challenges and political risks faced during your term in office, you have successfully carried out vital financial and social reforms for the benefit of the United States and its future. You have set new benchmarks in foreign policy and vividly demonstrated how to “listen and hear” and successfully tackle even the most complex issues.”

“I appreciate the relationship of trust between us, based on mutual respect and a focus on practical matters. This helps to build a new quality of Russian-US cooperation in harmony with the spirit of the times and the aspirations of our peoples,” Medvedev continued.

“I hope that our upcoming contacts on the sidelines of the APEC forum in Hawaii and the G20 summit in Cannes, as well as during your visit to Russia will ensure further progress on important bilateral and international issues.”
