Russia should only provide international legal assistance on a reciprocal basis, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Tuesday.
“If that or the other country does not assist us, and today there are countries that accept only freaks and swindlers that come from our country and other states, we should respond accordingly”, he said in a video conference.
Russian Investigative Committee head Alexander Bastrykin complained that the committee could not close 66 out of 77 criminal cases as the international mechanism for providing legal assistance was too weak. The investigative committee has issued 141 international investigation requests and has received only two answers, he said.
