Medvedev to hold news conference in May

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will hold a news conference on May 18, the presidential press service said on Thursday.

The president’s press secretary, Natalya Timakova, said the decision was made “because of the large number of interview requests from the Russian and foreign press.”

The news conference, which is expected to last about one and half hours, will be broadcast by Russia federal TV channels, and other channels will also be allowed to organize a live broadcast, she said. The venue for the conference has not yet been announced.

All Russian and foreign journalists wanting to take part in the conference are invited to file their requests, Timakova said, adding that Medvedev will also answer some questions submitted via the internet.
