Millions stolen from church in Moscow

Approximately 3 million rubles were stolen from a downtown church on Sunday.

“The thief entered the basement area of the Pyotr and Pavel Church at 4 Petropavlovsky Pereulok on Sunday morning, when all the staff were attending communion and stole a metal box containing 3 million rubles and documents,” a church spokesperson told Interfax on Monday. The spokesperson said that the theft was discovered by an abbot’s assistant, who noticed a broken lock on an entranceway door. Police have opened an investigation in to the theft.
