The Russian government should increase spending on the social sector, the Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov said Thursday.
He was speaking at the International conference “Russia and the World: in Search of Innovation Strategy” in Moscow.
Zhukov said that spending on the healthcare sector, science, culture and education should be increased twice.
Without bigger investments into these spheres it will be impossible to carry out modernization, the Deputy Prime Minister said.
Last year the rise of spending on healthcare led to the increase of birthrate and death rate decline, he added.
