Moscow Police Releases all Protestors Detained on Saturday

MOSCOW, April 14 (RIA Novosti) – All protestors detained during Saturday’s unsanctioned rallies in Moscow were released on the same day, a spokesman for the Moscow police department said.

“At the moment, all those detainees were released from police stations,” the spokesman told RIA Novosti shortly before midnight Moscow time.

The Moscow police department earlier reported that “dozens” of people were held by police as some 200 nationalists gathered in the center of the city. The rally was sparked by an attack on two ethnic Russian football fans in the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don during a clash with men said to be from Russia’s North Caucasus region.

The spokesman did not reveal the total number of those detained, but said that about 20 of them face an administrative penalty, while the rest was released without any charges being filed.
