Moscow is ready to increase its contribution to the strength of the UN observer mission in Syria by up to 30 military personnel, according to an order signed by President Vladimir Putin published on the government’s official website on Thursday.
“I have instructed the Foreign Ministry to inform the UN Secretariat of Russia’s readiness to send up to 30 Russian military personnel as communications officers, military observers and staff officers,” the order says.
The UN will pay for the expense of sending the Russian observers on the mission and maintaining them there.
