One person is dead and some 100 injured after police clashed with thousands of demonstrators in the town of Deraa in southern Syria.
The people were venting their anger over the death of five people in a demonstration on Friday when security forces fired live rounds on the crowd.
Syria appears to be entering the kind of trouble already seen in other Arab countries.
