New Monopoly – now in your ATM

In Russia’s Urals Region, someone has been filling cash-machines with toy money. Whoever is responsible replaced over a million in real rubles for play notes, the police say.

Seven cash machines of Sberbank, a major Russian bank, were affected by the scam in the city of Yekaterinburg.

A software fault meant the ATMs were unable to distinguish between real and toy money.

Luckily though, the cash machines were smart enough not to let customers withdraw any of the joke-shop money.

Sberbank says the software glitch has already been fixed and that using their cash machines is safe.
