A New York fashion show designed by the Uzbek president’s daughter will go ahead after controversy earlier caused the event to be cancelled.
Organizers of New York Fashion Week pulled the plug on Gulnara Karimova’s show amid mounting pressure from human rights activists.
It will now take place at an alternative location at an invitation-only event in Manhattan.
Activists accuse Karimova’s father of serious human rights violations and silencing political dissent in Uzbekistan. They also say the cotton used for her collection was produced using child labor.
The designer, however, denies all the allegations.
