One Russian soldier was killed and five injured in three separate bomb attacks in the volatile southern republic of Chechnya over the weekend, police said on Monday.
The first two bombs went off Sunday morning as a group of servicemen was conducting a reconnaissance operation near the Roshni Chu village in the Urus Martan district.
A 19-year old soldier was killed on the spot and another three were injured.
The third took place near the village of Morzi mokh in the Vedeno district, injuring two soldiers.
In the neighboring republic of North Ossetia, a bomb equivalent to 8 kilograms of TNT was defused on Sunday evening by the roadside near the town of Maisky.
