Over 75 Moscow buildings turned off their lights for Earth Hour

The lights on more than 75 buildings across Moscow were switched off from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Moscow time on March 26 as the Russian capital took part in the World Wildlife Fund’s global action Earth Hour 2011. City landmarks plunged into darkness included Moscow State University, the Vorobyovy Gory ski jump, city hall on Novy Arbat street, Luzhniki Stadium’s Small and Grand sports arenas, the Russian Academy of Sciences’ presidium, the Shukhov radio tower, some high-rise buildings, as well as about ten overpasses and bridges.
RIA Novosti’s Moscow office supported the action, also switching off its lights.
