Poacher ship under Cambodia flag forfeit to the state in Kamchatka

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, August 4 (Itar-Tass) — The fishing boat Mont Blanc, detained in the Sea of Okhotsk under the flag of Cambodia has been confiscated for the benefit of the Russian state on the Kamchatka Peninsula, the Federal Bailiff Service department for the Kamchatka Territory told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

The vessel was detained in Russian waters by border guards in January 2011. About 41 tonnes of live crab were found on board the ship. The captain failed to produce documents for the catch and transportation.

The fishing boat registered at Phnom Penh port and owned by a South Korean company, was arrested. She was escorted to the port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, where remained during the proceedings on the fact of the exposed violations.

The court found the ship owner guilty of violating the rules of fishing. It will have to pay a fine amounting to about 36 million roubles. The vessel was confiscated, under the court decision, and transferred to the Russian Federal Property Management Agency (Rosimushchestvo).
