BAKU, July 26 (Itar-Tass) — Poland is interested in increasing Azerbaijani oil supplies, Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski said at a business forum with participation of business circles of the two countries late on Monday.
The president said his country was already receiving yearly one million tons of oil from Azerbaijan, which is processed at an oil refinery in the Czech Republic. “This is an enterprise with Polish capital and we are interested in an increase of the amount of oil going there from Azerbaijan,” the president added.
As for the Odessa-Brody-Plotsk-Gdansk pipeline, the president stressed that his country had expressed political support for that project. According to him, “its commercial importance is growing”.
At a news conference following Azerbaijani-Polish summit talks, Komorowski stressed that in order to make a decision on the Odesa-Brody-Plotsk-Gdansk pipeline and to further update the infrastructure, an exact business plan was needed.
“We must know what amount of oil must get into the system and how much oil we will be receiving,” the president noted.
On the whole, he said his country seeks to develop cooperation with Azerbaijan not only in the energy sphere, but also in other economic sectors. Azerbaijani President Ilkham Aliyev echoed him, saying his country “would like to see Polish companies as investors in the Azerbaijani economy”. “We also believe that Polish companies can take part in major infrastructure projects in Azerbaijan,” he added.
The Azerbaijani president expressed readiness of his country to invest capital in Poland.
