Police in Japan arrest nuclear witch doctors

Two men have been arrested in Japan over the sale of fake anti-nuclear drugs.

The pair are alleged to have sold so called anti-nuclear drugs to gullible people, claiming they would be protected from radiation sickness.

The pair convinced the buyers they would not be harmed by radiation leaking from Japan’s stricken nuclear plant.

The drug, named Zeolite, had been promoted as being able to absorb radioactive substances from the human body through urine and faeces.

It is believed more than 1,000 people bought the drug after the earthquake and tsunami damaged the nuclear reactor at Fukushima.

Elevated levels of radiation have been found near the affected nuclear reactor.
