Police Kill Three Militants in North Caucasus

Three militants have been killed and several have been detained on Tuesday in a large-scale security operation in the town of Malgobek in Russia’s southern republic of Ingushetia, a law enforcement source said.

“Police undertook several special operations in different locations of Malgobek during which three militants were killed and several were detained,” the source said.

Police have found a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosives.

Earlier a law enforcement source said police had information that militants thought to be behind the terrorist attack on a policemen funeral in Malgobek on August 19 were hiding at different locations of the town.

A suicide bomb attack occurred in Malgobek at a funeral of the policeman who was killed in a shootout with militants on August 18. Seven people were killed, 15 were injured. All the dead expect a suicide bomber were police officers.
