Police Officer Killed in North Caucasus

A traffic police officer was killed in Russia’s North Caucasus republic of Dagestan on Friday evening, an Investigative Committee representative said.

An unidentified assailant fired several shots at the police officer in the central of the republic’s capital, Makhachkala.

Earlier on Friday two law enforcement officers were killed in Russia’s North Caucasus republic of Kabardino-Balkaria.

Unknown assailants shot dead a traffic police officer, 26, in the republic’s capital, Nalchik, as he was returning home after duty.

An hour later the body of a senior investigator was discovered in his car with gunshot wounds. The investigator, 31, had worked at a major crimes unit, investigating in particular attacks on law enforcement and military officials.
