Presidential election in Russia scheduled for Mar 4, 2012

MOSCOW, Jul 21 (PRIME) — Russias presidential election is scheduled for March 4, 2012, Maya Grishina, a member of the countrys Central Election Commission, said Thursday, RIA Novosti reported.

On Tuesday, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said he plans to announce his decision on whether or not he intends to run for a second term in the 2012 presidential election, soon.

In June, Medvedev made it clear that he would like a second term as president, but said he and former president and current Prime Minister Vladimir Putin would not run against each other during the upcoming elections.
