Protesters Detained At Opposition Rally In Moscow

Protesters have been detained at an opposition rally in central Moscow where they were protesting against the lack of alternatives in the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections.

Interfax news agency reports, quoting the police, that some 20 people were detained for taking part in the rally, which had not been approved by the Moscow executive authorities.

The protesters were holding a banner that said, “An election without opposition is a crime” and chanting, “Russia without Putin!”

Detentions are routine at opposition rallies in Moscow, most of which are not authorized by the authorities.
