Putin congratulates builders on professional holiday

MOSCOW, August 14 (Itar-Tass) —— Prime Minister Vladimir Putin congratulated construction industry workers on the professional holiday on Sunday.

“We mark the 55th anniversary of this professional holiday in 2011. Fifty-five years ago this country started an unprecedented program of housing construction. Many generations of architects, designers and workers have built tens of thousands of apartment houses, industrial, energy, social and cultural sites since then,” the message runs.

Modern builders cherish traditions of the construction industry and introduce advanced, environmentally friendly and safe technologies, Putin said.

“Our key priorities are a new level of the construction industry, a major increase in the rates of housing construction and a higher accessibility of housing to Russian families. It is necessary to do a lot for fulfilling large-scale infrastructural and industrial projects in all regions of the country,” he said.

Earlier in the day builders were congratulated by President Dmitry Medvedev.

“The work of construction professionals enjoys invariable respect in this country. You make a big contribution to the development of the national economy and the social sector. Towns and villages, hospitals and schools, industrial and residential areas are built by you,” says the congratulatory message posted on the Kremlin website.

“It is necessary not only to mount construction rates but also to ensure high quality, security and comfort. Modernization and further development of the construction industry are directly linked to modern architectural and engineering solutions, energy efficient technologies and environmentally friendly materials,” he said.

“It is also necessary to train highly professional specialists capable of solving new tasks,” he said.
