Putin to Road-Test APEC Bridge

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Friday he will soon visit Vladivostok and test a bridge built especially for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.

“I am looking forward to it,” he said during a video conference devoted to the project’s completion, adding that he would like to test it by driving across the bridge.

The bridge, one of the infrastructure facilities for the APEC summit, will connect the mainland part of the city with Russky Island, where the main activities of the summit are to take place.

The summit preparation program also includes the construction of an international air terminal and two five-star hotels, wastewater purification facilities, as well as modernization of the water supply system and the power grid.

Vladivostok will host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in September.
