PwC: Russia’s car sales up 85% on year in January–June

MOSCOW, Jul 20 (PRIME) — Russias new car sales increased 85% on the year to U.S. $27.2 billion in JanuaryJune in monetary terms, Stanley Root, internal audit practice leader of PricewaterhouseCooperss unit in Russia, said Wednesday.

Of the total, Russias car imports rose 82% on the year to $13.5 billion, sales of domestic car producers rose 52% on the year to $3.5 billion in this period, and sales of Russian-made foreign-branded vehicles more than doubled to $10.2 billion in JanuaryJune against around $5 billion in the same period a year earlier.

In physical terms, Russias car imports amounted to 410,000 units, sales of domestic car producers amounted to 310,000 units, and sales of Russian-made foreign-branded vehicles were at 440,000 units in JanuaryJune.

According to PwCs forecast, Russias car sales could amount to between 2.1 million and 2.4 million units in 2011.
