Russia, Belarus to Introduce Joint Entry, Exit Ban Lists

Moscow and Minsk are preparing to introduce joint agreements on entry bans to Russia and Belarus as well as exit restrictions, the Belarusian Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.

Russian and Belarusian migration authorities will gather in Minsk on August 7-8 to discuss the migration policy of the Union State of Russia and Belarus because of frequent cases when citizens of the other countries, who are barred from entering Russia, get a Belarusian visa and then move to Russia without an appropriate visa.

“The meeting will be focused on preparing agreements that would mutually recognize the ban on entering the Union State by the other countries’ citizens as well as on exchanging information on those who are restricted from leaving,” the ministry said in a statement.

In 2010, Russia and Belarus combined their databases so undesirable people for Russia are unable to enter Belarus either. Russian nationals living in Belarus are also forbidden to visit other countries if their freedom of travel is restricted in Russia.
