Russia concerned over indiscriminate air strikes on Libya

Russia is concerned over the implementation of a UN Security Council resolution on the no-fly zone over Libya, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Alexander Lukashevich told reporters in Moscow on Thursday.

“While decrying the Libyan leadership-instigated violence, Russia at the same time voices concern over the Western coalition enforcing the UNSC no-fly zone resolution”, Lukashevich said.

He warned that the coalition forces’ indiscriminate air strikes in Libya are fraught with more civilian casualties there.

The topic will highlight the agenda of a UNSC consultative session in New York, where UN chief Ban Ki-moon is due to deliver a report to this effect later on Thursday.
