Russia Kicked Out 34,000 Foreigners in 2013 – Official

MOSCOW, January 28 (RIA Novosti) – Russia expelled 34,000 foreigners from the country last year, more than twice as many as the year before, the head of the bailiff service said Tuesday.

The Federal Bailiff Service head Artur Parfyonchikov said his organization has expelled 49,000 foreigners from Russia since 2012 when it took over responsibility for doing so.

Foreigners are typically expelled from Russia for violating laws other than migration rules, while those who commit migration offenses are generally deported.

Earlier this year, the migration service reported that more than 64,000 foreign nationals had been ordered to leave Russia in 2013, including 1,300 who were deported because they had no legal grounds to stay in the country.
