After Japan backed down from hosting the world championship in figure skating because of the recent devastating earthquake and tsunami, the International Skating Federation asked other countries whether any of them can host it.
Russia is ready to host the championship, Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin says.
At a meeting with the Minister of Sports and Tourism Vitaly Mutko, Mr. Putin said: “We can support the International Skating Federation and Japan, if they are interested in that. Russia can foot the entire bill.”
