Russian-American Alex Bogomolov has declared that he will play for the Russian national team in the Davis Cup. According to the tennis player, nothing can prevent him from joining the Russians.
“I can help the Russian team this winter, as I have never played for the American team in the Davis Cup,”
Bogomolov told the RIA Novosti news agency Tuesday.
Negotiations on Bogomolov’s playing for Russia were held by his father Aleksandr and Russian Tennis Federation President Shamil Tarpishchev.
The 28 year old will be able to join the team in February during a first round match against Austria.
Bogomolov has yet to win an ATP title, but he is currently ranked 36th in the world and playing the best tennis of his career.
