Russian Military Equipment ‘Extremely Reliable’ – Deputy Prime Minister

MOSCOW, June 16 (RIA Novosti) – Russian military equipment is extremely reliable, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said on Facebook.

One of the users of the social network questioned the reliability of Russian missiles, which “explode at the start and often fall.”

“We have issues only with civilian Proton-M rockets, manufactured by the Khrunichev Center. We are working to improve the situation. Still, our military equipment is extremely reliable,” Rogozin said Monday.

Deputy Prime Minister, who is responsible for the space and defense industries, also said that he can prove the reliability of Russian military equipment, “if the aggressor doubts it.”

Launched on May 16, from Baikonur, the Proton-M carrier rocket collided with communications satellite Express АМ4R and burned up in the atmosphere above China, leaving Russia without its most powerful telecommunications satellite. The Interdepartmental Commission looked at four possible causes of the crash, the most likely being that the turbo-pump bearing in the control engine of its third stage failed.

On Monday, Alexander Danilyuk, who headed the commission, confirmed that the reason for the crash was “purely techincal,” and said he had transferred the results of the investigation to the Russian government.
