Russian Paras Fire ‘Green Beret’ Weapons in U.S.

Russian paratroopers have started small arms firing exercises at Fort Carson, Colorado, prior to the first ever joint anti-terror exercises with the U.S. Special Forces in America, Defense Ministry spokesman Col. Alexander Kucherenko said on Friday.

“Following a briefing on safety measures by Green Beret instructors, the Russian paratroopers received weapons and ammunition, and started firing practice,” Kucherenko said.

The Russian soldiers tested the M9 Beretta handgun and M4 assault rifle in competition with U.S. commandos.

The next stage of weapon drills will involve firing M240 and M249 machine guns.

The exchange visit will also include discussions on land warfare rules of engagement.
