Police in the Amur region in Russia’s Far East detained a Chinese national who was keeping two boys locked up on his property in Russia, a spokesman for the local police department said on Thursday.
“It turned out that a Chinese citizen locked up two 10-year-old boys in a storehouse near the river Zeya,” the statement said.
A passerby reported the man to police after seeing him hit one of the boys on the head. Police freed the boys.
The detainee said that he had been keeping the boys only because he had confused them with others who robbed his storehouse two days earlier.
The investigation is underway, after which the police will initiate a criminal case.
