Russian Wildfires Gradually Subsiding – Forest Agency

The number of wildfires in Russia has fallen from 201 to 190 over the last twenty-four hours, with the worst affected areas remaining Siberia, the Urals and the Far East, the Federal Forest Agency said on Tuesday.

“On Tuesday morning 190 wildfires with a total area of 21,700 hectares are raging in Russia. They do not represent a threat to residential areas and local economies,” the agency said in a statement.

About 4,900 people, 46 aircraft and 516 vehicles are fighting the fires.
