Salavat two steps away from the KHL final

Salavat Yulaev have won their second game in the KHL semi-finals, thrashing visiting Metallurg 4-0.

­Metallurg Magnitogorsk had few chances in Ufa on the night, conceding four goals in the two opening periods.

Kirill Koltsov gave Salavat the lead in a powerplay after 8 minutes, with Oleg Saprykin, Sergey Ziniviev and Andrey Kuteykin also adding their names to the scoreboard.

The Ufa side take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series in the Eastern Conference finals and are just two wins away from a place in the Gagarin Cup Finals.

Game 3 of the tie is scheduled to take place in Magnitogorsk on Monday, March 28.

Altant Moscow Region lead Lokomotiv Yaroslavl by the same 2-0 score in the other semis.
