Siberian homeless taken to theater

All they want is ‘bread and circuses’, decided a Siberian theater company and invited the homeless from Novosibirsk to come to watch a performance free of charge. It’s the first time they have been treated to free entertainment in Russia.

Some fifty invitations have been already distributed. For some reason, without drawing any parallels, the show that the ‘chosen few’ are welcome to watch is entitled “People Losing Heads”.

“Our theater is itself a big experiment, given that non-professional actors are featured in our shows,” the director of the performance, Konstantin Yarlykov, was quoted as saying.

The charity event organisers have only one condition: the homeless theater goers have to pass a medical examination before being allowed inside the theater. It’s hoped that this will prevent them from spreading infectious diseases.
