Episodes of the Simpsons which pass jokes about nuclear meltdown or crisis have been banned in a number of countries as the reality of nuclear disaster continues to unfold in Japan.
TV networks across Germany, Switzerland, Austria were quick to act, screening footage of the American animated comedy to ensure episodes poking fun at nuclear crisis are not aired. Some have banned the show temporarily as whole, while others are censoring the words used by the characters.
In the show, Homer Simpson works at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant where safety regulations are often ignored and mocked.
Simpson himself is the Nuclear Safety Inspector and he spends his days eating donuts and sleeping at his desk neglecting his work duties.
With him at the helm, the plant has blown up and entered meltdowns a number of times. The show is anything but shy about nuclear devastation.
