State of emergency has been declared due to heavy rains in over 60 cities in the Brazilian southeastern state of Minas Gerais. The natural disaster has already killed 16 people. More than 15,000 residents of the state have been left homeless. Precipitation in southeastern Brazil has caused mudflows; the rivers have overflown the banks.
